Going to the Ukraine

It has been a while since I have contacted you, my friends, and former Wycliffe partners and colleagues. This past year has been difficult as I have adjusted to being an “X”—ex-husband and ex-Wycliffe member. Although my focus is now on getting training and skills to do database administration and/or web development, my passion continues to be music. In particular I love playing at church and with other Christian groups.

I have been playing horn with the Singing Men of North Central Texas for several years now. In 2010 they made a trip to western Ukraine with the Texas-based evangelist Michael Gott, which I could not go on. During 11 packed concerts they ministered to 10,600 people with 4,567 written decisions made for Christ. Over 40%! Because of the overwhelming response, Michael immediately asked if the group would return as soon as possible. As a result a trip was planned for this spring to the eastern region of Crimea.

I am very pleased to announce that as of last Thursday I have committed to go on this trip as part of the band playing horn and whistles. As the picture indicates, we will be living in a floating hotel as we travel to 8 port cities where nine concerts are currently scheduled.

I believe that Lord has led me to this decision to use the skills and passion he has given me for his service. Although it will cost me, I believe that following ones heart where the Lord is leading is always the wisest course. Even though I am responsible to pay or raise over $2500.00 to go, I decided that I was willing to use my savings if necessary. I was not going to miss this trip.

The trip will be from April 23 to May 4. I am one of the last people to sign up and all my payments are due now. However the the leadership is so committed to me going that they are spotting me the funds to give me the chance to contact you all.
